Iranian girls, boys on podium with support from FIVB

TEHRAN - FIVB Volleyball Empowerment supported teams from Thailand, Iran, Indonesia and Pakistan earned medals in volleyball and beach volleyball at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

Five of the six Asian Youth Games medals in volleyball went to teams benefiting from FIVB Volleyball Empowerment. Iran, Indonesia and Thailand lined up on the girls’ podium, while Pakistan and Thailand took silver and bronze, respectively, on the boys’ side. The boys’ title also went to the representatives of Iran.

Volleyball Federation of Iran has so far received USD 168,000 in coach support for their women’s national volleyball teams, benefitting from the expertise of Korean coach Lee Do-Hee, in addition to another USD 83,500 in volleyball equipment. FIVB Volleyball Empowerment has so far invested USD 52,500 for coach support of the Indonesian women’s national volleyball teams, making use of Brazilian coach Marcos Sugiyama’s expertise. In addition, Persatuan Bola Voli Seluruh Indonesia has been allocated USD 75,000 in volleyball equipment. The Thailand Volleyball Association has been granted a total of USD 294,000 in FIVB Volleyball Empowerment coach support for their national volleyball teams, in addition to USD 138,000 worth of volleyball equipment. Their women’s teams are working under the supervision of coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, while the men’s teams train under the guidance of legendary Korean player and coach Park Ki-Won. The Pakistan Volleyball Federation has so far been allocated a total of USD 290,500 worth of FIVB Volleyball Empowerment coach support for their men’s national volleyball teams, now training under Iranian coach Hamid Jafarzadeh Fard. In addition, FIVB Volleyball Empowerment provided USD 11,500 worth of volleyball equipment. Another USD 6,000 has been granted for a national team coach development knowledge transfer program.
